Keira Knightley Protest Photoshop: Actress Goes Topless To Protest Against Media Objectification Of Women's Bodies [PHOTOS]

Keira Knightley protest - Keira Knightley has posed topless for a magazine to protest against Photoshopping and the media's objectification of the bodies of females.

The 29 years old actress agreed to pose topless for Interview Magazine on the basis that the editors of the online publication release her photos without editing or Photoshoping her breasts.

"I've had my body manipulated so many different times for so many different reasons, whether it's paparazzi photographers or for film posters," she told The London Times.

Keira Knightley says she told veteran photographer Patrick Demarchelier that she is fine with doing a topless photo shoot provided her image will not be retouched. "Because it doesn't matter what shape you are," the slender actress explained.

Keira Knightley's protest photos have sparked a series of commentaries about her figure. "There's a concept of how you should be and I'm not sure anybody really fits onto it. I hope they don't, because I don't feel like I do," Keira Knightley revealed in a recent interview.

The British star's petite figure has been at the center of controversy in the past. In 2004, her breasts were digitally altered to look bigger in the poster of the movie King Arthur in which she starred. She says she has had to turn down many roles due to their irrational insistence on sex and violence.

Keira Knightley's protest comes on the heels of Chelsea Handler's topless Instagram photo imitating a pose by Russia's President Vladimir Putin. Several renowned female actress and other media personalities have also express dissent against gender inequality and the skewed media portrayal of women.

Keira Knighley's protest photos have been widely circulated online since the topless images of her surfaced. The actress is set to star in an upcoming movie The Imitation Game, which also features Benedict Cumberbatch. The movie is scheduled to be released on the Nov. 28th.
