A few months ago the Pittsburgh Steelers presented the latest throwback jersey that they would be using for this season to honor 80 years of great football. Their uniforms debuted last night against the Washington Redskins and they certainly did not allow Hurricane Sandy to put their new-found offensive rhythm on the sidelines. Everything has finally gotten in sync; the defense has done their part and their offense hasn’t been better balanced. But despite this, their uniforms caused more news rather than their 27-12 win.
Their throwbacks were a mix of yellow and black stripes that sort of resembled a bee in a prison outfit. This will replace the 1962 style of uniform they have been wearing since 2007 and with the criticisms they are amassing, don't be surprised if they revert back to their old uniform.
Although the Steelers claim that these were used in 1934, there is no complete evidence to prove this. In fact, even if the historical records are incomplete, these may have been worn only once in 1933. If this were true, you really wouldn't need more facts to back up why they only wore it once. What belongs in the past certainly belongs in the past.
