The Simpson's have made history as being the longest running television show in history, having been on air for the last 24 years. With its 25th year anniversary coming up, there have been speculations of the show finally ending. Instead, executives surprised everyone by developing an interesting plot behind the series.
The Simpson's executive produce Al Jean confessed recently that they are planning to off a major character from the show. Of course, this announcement was met with reactions, as well as many questions as to who that character would be. The producer only went on to say that the character who would be killed off was voiced by someone who won an Emmy for playing the still unidentified character.
This is not the first time that the show has killed off someone. About 13 years ago, Maude Flanders died when she was hit in the chest by a t-shirt cannon. It was actually Homer Simpson's command to have the cannons fly at him that caused the accident. When Homer suddenly leaned down to examine a bobby pin that he had found on the ground, the cannons hit the religious Maude instead.
Audiences were stunned with the character's unexpected death. Despite that reaction, producers seem to think that the time has come to kill off someone again. No further information was given as to when the character would be killed off.
The news has sent many investigating as to who the victim may be. Because of the Emmy award clue, the character has been narrowed down between Krusty the Clown, Itchy, Sideshow Mel, Nelson Muntz, Ralph Wiggum, Moe Szyslak, Professor Frink, Carl or Dr. Nick Riviera. Although Homer and Bart Simpson's voices are handled by the same artists that do the voices of the earlier mentioned characters, fans are saying that it is not likely that any of these two lead characters will be killed off.
