Rallying all angry chicks in America! You're favorite man-bashing rock star, Alanis Morissette, is taking Jagged Little Pill to Broadway in 2014. Broadway will be forever changed once the very essence of JLP is featured as a dramatic musical. Working with Vivek J. Tiwary and Tom Kitt on the production, Alanis intends to bring her barrage of bluntness and brutal sensation to the grand stage with a roar!
Alanis, 39, will spearhead the effort which is definitely as it should be.
In a press release issued by the singer, she conveyed, "I look forward to taking the heart of 'Jagged Little Pill' and expanding its story, fleshing it out into deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit, and fabulism," as reported by the New York Daily News.
A barrage of bluntness, JLP which was released in 1995, offers turbo-powered lyrics filled with emotion, sentiment and courage that every woman can relate to, and has probably lived through.
JLP's lead single, "You Oughta Know", became the alma mater for broken hearted woman all over the world. The single racked up two Grammy Awards for Best Rock Song and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award as Song of the Year.
The Canadian-American rocker believes that strong female voices are needed on Broadway to portray serious, relatable drama. It is also mentioned that fans should expect the unexpected as well.
The Broadway production will be comprised of all songs on JLP, as well as other favorites, according to Rolling Stone. Kitt, a Tony and Pulitzer winner, will of course provide the orchestra composition for the show.
