A Student Shot Dead at Purdue University Indiana

A man shot and killed a senior student at Purdue University in Indiana Tuesday.

Cody Cousins, 23, fatally killed a senior student and teacher's assistant Andrew Boldt, 21 at a basement classroom at the University.

The police identified the culprit as Cody Cousin, an engineering student in Purdue University from Centerville, Ohio and Warsaw Ind.

In a press conference, University Police John Cox said that the suspect initially targeted the victim and no one else other than the victim.

"This appears to be an isolated and intentional act. The victim appeared to have been targeted by the suspect, and it was no more and no less than that," Cox said.

 The suspect walked at the basement of the engineering building, enter the classroom and shot the victim. He eventually exited the room. The witnesses were left shocked about the incident.

 The police officers believed that the gunman's target was just the victim and no one else.

Some students heard four or five shots during the incident, others seemed to be busy and just heard other student yelling and running inside the building. Then the police came, instructed them to stay in their places as they search the area. After the search, a man, with a handcuffs and blood on his hands, was with the police.

The Purdue University cancelled the class for the rest of Tuesday and Wednesday.

The suspect walked into the electrical engineering building and shot the victim to death. Police reported that Cousins surrendered to them but remained uncooperative.

The Lafayette Journal & Courier reported that the suspect was held without bond over homicide. Indiana State police is currently working with Purdue University Police for the case.

 Also, police have records of alcohol-related arrest against Cousins prior to the shooting.

There were records of casualty during the shooting incident inside the campus.
