50 Cent dead - that's the latest death-related rumor/news that's been circulating the Internet since last March, and until today, many are still puzzled whether two quarters really passed away to a car crash.
50 Cent (nee Curtis James Jackson III) is reportedly dead according to several sources, but the death speculation was formally debunked by a number of sites. One of these sites is TravelersToday that reported about the now referred to as "death hoax" as something that originated from notorious death hoax site, Global Associated News.
According to a report published on Global Associated News, "50 Cent died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident - March 12, 2014"
The site further claims that 50 Cent death has led authorities to carry out an investigation. "Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that 50 Cent lost control while driving a friend's vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly. The vehicle was believed to have been traveling at approximately 95 miles per hour in a 55mph zone at the time of the accident. Witnesses have stated that 50 Cent's car crossed the double lines several times prior to the accident and hit the center lane divider causing the vehicle to flip and roll."
Meanwhile, another site that also debunked the false report, The Epoch Times, reported that the death hoax actually started as a joke from the same notorious site. The site even quoted a similar news report from Global Associated News. The only difference though is that the date in The Epoch Times' quoted statement is on March 21, 2014. Nevertheless, the site noted that many Twitter users actually fell for the sick joke that 50 Cent has died.
Interestingly, both TravelersToday and The Epoch Times reported that if netizens would look closely at the bottom of the Global Associated News, there's actually a statement that reveals the nature of the site and its articles.
"THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual," it reads. "Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank 'non-specific' template for the purpose of entertainment," reads the statement found at the bottom of the notorious site.
On the other hand, some sites reported that a rapper has indeed died recently and he is someone who once was a member of 50 Cent's G-Unit rap crew. Daily Mail reported that Jamal Green, also known by his stage name Mazardi Fox, got killed when a masked gunman opened fire on an SUV where the rapper was in last January at the corner of Farmers Boulevard and 113rd Avenue.
Reports said that the 42-year-old rapper was fatally wounded because of the incident, and though he managed to climb up the vehicle, he eventually collapsed on the snow-covered sidewalk. Other passengers of the SUV only got injured.
Upon hearing the news, 50 Cent tweeted that he was "saddened" by the death of his friend. "Saddened by the news of Mazardi's tragic passing my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends #smsaudio," 50 Cent's tweet back then read.
As for the still-alive-and-kicking rapping artist, he threw out the first pitch at Citi Field last night, and it seems the very successful rapper didn't succeed in throwing the baseball anywhere near home plate, Deadspin reported.
