CBS confirms that 'The Arsenio Hall Show' is not returning for the second season and has been abruptly cancelled. Although rumors from last year suggested that the late night talk show would be coming back for a second season, CBS has confirmed that the Arsenio Hall Show is no longer returning.

For the second time, Arsenio Hall is getting the boot from CBS' talk show line-up. 'The Arsenio Hall Show' aired its season finale last Wednesday, May 21, 2014 and to the dismay of many, the May 21 episode also serves as the show's swansong from TV. Arsenio Hall formerly hosted a more successful predecessor of the show on 1989 and ran for five years until its cancellation in 1994.

The reason behind the cancellation is believed to be due to the lack of a dedicated audience. The new Arsenio Hall Show acquired an average of 1 million viewers when it opened in September 2013, but the viewership quickly decreased and has struggled to maintain its rapport among loyal viewers. According to a statement by CBS regarding the show's issue with maintaining an audience, "while there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue."

Due to waning support for the Arsenio Hall show, several channels have opted to move the show to weaker timeslots. This might have been the final nail for the coffin of the late night talk show. There are no news yet whether Arsenio Hall hopes to revive his show elsewhere, but despite the cancellation, Hall released a more positive message to supporters via CBS, "I'm gratified for the year we've had and proud of the show we created."

However, the Arsenio Hall Show isn't the only one waving goodbye to the airwaves this year. Bethenny, hosted by Bethenny Frankel, has been cancelled after one season and Katie Couric's own daytime show is scheduled to end this year, as well.
