'The Arsenio Hall Show' didn't make it to another season after receiving very low ratings and failing to get a large following. After airing for a full pilot season, the show has been axed or cancelled by CBS, FOX News reported.

After weeks of endless speculations on the show's fate, CBS Television Distribution has formally announced that 'The Arsenio Hall Show' will not be back for another full season, the announcement of course came as a big surprise since the television network has revealed in February the syndicated show will have a second season.

It can be noted that it was Jay Leno who broke the news to Arsenio Hall that his show has been renewed for another season when he made his first guesting appearance after departing The Tonight Show.

Reports claim that Arsenio Hall apparently failed to recreate the success he enjoyed 20 years ago by capturing the interest of an audience big enough to spare his show from getting cancelled.

"I'm gratified for the year we've had and proud of the show we created," the actor-comedian said in a statement after revealing that it was a challenge for him to launch 'The Arsenio Hall Show.'

According to a spokesman for the cancelled show, it is still in reruns but won't resume production, with the final episode having aired on May 21.

Following the stellar launch of 'The Arsenio Hall Show' its ratings plummeted and never bounced back, according to Deadline. Despite having a highly-rated Prince, Jay Leno and Eddie Murphy on the show, Arsenio Hall failed to get the ratings it needed to continue on air.

"While there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue," a CBSTD spokesperson said. "Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we'd like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We'd also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show."

'The Arsenio Hall Show' has averaged a paltry 0.7 rating in households and a 0.3 in 18-49 in its final week. That said, the show was also plagued by a slew of station downgrades.

It can be noted that Arsenio Hall began his original series in 1989, and then playing-presidential candidate Bill Clinton's guest appearance helped the comedian establish a large following from the general viewers.

However, in 1994, the late night show competition became tougher as Jay Leno's 'Tonight Show' and CBS' David Letterman were launched. The competition have been very harsh to Hall, whose show ratings soon slipped and never bounced back.

Looks like history has repeated itself for Hall!
