A woman in China has been publicly beaten to death while inside a McDonald's for allegedly rejecting a suitor's advances. The beating, which was caught on video and has since circulated over the internet, occurred within the dining area.
The woman, whose name has not been revealed and is believed to be in her 20s, was eating in a McDonald's branch in Zhaoyuan, eastern China when six people confronted her. According to reports, words were exchanged between the woman and the group before the fatal bludgeoning. The group later revealed a metal bat and started beating the defenseless woman to death with it. A portion of the exchange and beating were captured on camera by a bystander and McDonald's customer.
Conflicting reports have been delivered to the police over the beating. One report stated that the female victim rejected the advances of the man who later turned out to be her murderer. Arguments arose between the two when the woman declined to give him her phone number.
According to another report, the group of six individuals are members of a religious cult, Quannengshen, and tried to recruit the victim. When she declined, they allegedly sought out for revenge.
Later autopsy results showed that the woman succumbed to her injuries caused by the fatal beating.
Six people have been arrested over the gruesome attack.
