The video showing Manny Machado throwing his bat towards the third base line went viral online.

Machado was almost hit by a pitch from Oakland Athletics left hander Fernando Abad. And on the next pitch, Machado's bat went flying into the third base line.

The Orioles third baseman motioned to the umpires that his bat slipped out of his hands, but Athletics catcher Stephen Vogt confronted Machado, leading to a second bench clearing incident between the two clubs.

Machado also played a role in the first bench clearing on Friday when he reacted angrily to a tag on him by Athletics' third baseman Josh Donaldson.

And due to his involvement on Sunday's bat-throwing incident, Machado reportedly received a five-game suspension and was also handed an undisclosed fine on Tuesday for throwing his bat, but the 21-year-old reportedly appealed his ban.

"I don't want to be down for five days," Machado said via ESPN. "We're just going to go ahead and get that down, and that's it. Need to try to help out this team in any way."

Abad, who was also ejected on Sunday after both benches cleared, dodged suspension, but Machado is not interested in talking about it, saying that he doesn't care about the pitcher.

"I don't really care," Machado said. "He's part of the Oakland A's organization and I'm a Baltimore Oriole. I know what I did and he knows what he did. We both got to pay the consequences."

The hearing on Machado's appeal is expected to take place next week, but reports also indicated that he could drop his appeal on Wednesday.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said that the 21-year-old made a mistake in handling the situation, but they are ready to move forward, and he is hopeful that the young batter will learn from his mistakes.

"He's a 21-year-old young man that made a mistake, and he's done the right thing since then to move forward with it the way it's supposed to be done," Showalter said. "Now there are some more steps involved before we can put it behind us."
