Netflix's Daredevil, which is yet to have a set premiere date, has welcomed actress Rosario Dawson as their newest cast member. The Sin City star is said to play a "critical" role in the 13-episode series, Entertainment Weekly has learned.
Rosario Dawson is reportedly playing a character "whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell's Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of [the] broken city," said a statement released by Marvel on its Web site last Friday.
Marvel's Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, also talked about casting Rosario Dawson for the upcoming Netflix Daredevil, and he just couldn't help but praise the actress' antics.
"Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for Marvel's Daredevil," he said.
"Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock's journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil," Loeb added, speaking of Dawson's role.
Mashable reported that with Rosario Dawson's entry to the show, it's very likely that she is playing Electra, saying, "You don't put Rosario Dawson in a super hero show without giving her a super badass costume."
Last week, Charlie Cox was cast as the titular character. Law & Order: Criminal Intent star Vince D'Onofrio was also added to the Netflix Daredevil roster and he is to portray Wilson Fisk, who is also famously known as Kingpin.
