Amir Khan continues to lobby for a big-money bout as he expressed interest in facing Manny Pacquiao in November or December this year.

In an interview with The National (via BoxingScene), Khan said that his ultimate goal is landing a bout against Floyd Mayweather., but he wants to face Pacquiao first before taking on the reigning pound-for-pound king.

The 27-year-old Briton also added that he feels confident about his chances of winning against Pacquiao, saying that the Filipino boxing icon is not the same fighter that he was before based on his recent fights.

"I want to fight him and beat him and then fight Floyd Mayweather in May next year," Khan said of Pacquiao. "That's my target. We are both fighting next in November or December, so everything is perfect for us to fight. It's speed, explosiveness and entertainment from both fighters and this is what fans want from boxing right now. Manny is slowing down. As we have seen in his past three fights, he is not the same Manny."

Khan, who is coming an impressive unanimous decision win against Luis Collazo on May 3, expressed confidence that the fight can happen now that Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank Promotions are showing willingness to co-promote big fights in the future.

The Bolton, England native also added that the fight could generate big numbers because fights fans will be intrigued with the fight featuring former sparring mates.

"Oscar De La Hoya and Bob Arum have put their differences aside and they want to work together and co-promote fights in the future and why not an Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao fight to do that? We have a good history together; we both were trained by Freddie Roach, we sparred together hundreds of times, we are friends," Khan said.

When asked about the possibility of arranging a Pacquiao vs Khan fight, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said that it is a good option, but he will have to look at Khan's contract first before tendering an offer.

"We can't sign anything for him to fight Pacquiao until we look at his contracts. For example, for all I know he might have a contract that says all his fights have to be on Showtime. I don't know if that's true or not," Arum said.
