The Houston Rockets reportedly made a strong pitch to acquire Carmelo Anthony, but they already have a Plan B in place in case the All-Star forward decides to sign elsewhere or return to the New York Knicks.

Marc Stein of ESPN reported that Houston will look to acquire Chris Bosh if they fail to land Anthony, and sources indicated that the Rockets have already informed the All-Star power forward about their interest.

"Sources told ESPN.com on Thursday night that the Rockets -- while still holding out hope that Anthony will choose them after hosting him Wednesday in Houston -- have already let Bosh know how interested they are in bringing the Dallas native back to Texas," Stein wrote.

Most NBA executives are convinced that Bosh is still leaning toward returning to the Miami Heat along with fellow superstars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, but the Rockets are reportedly confident that they can swipe the 30-year-old forward from the Heat.

The Rockets are reportedly looking for a big forward with range, who could stretch the floor for superstar center Dwight Howard. Houston listed Bosh and Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki as their top options, but they are now left with Bosh after the Nowitzki signed a new deal with the Mavs.

The Rockets have been planning to sign a big-name free agent this summer and trading both Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin is a part of their plan to create enough cap space to offer a lucrative deal.

Asik was recently traded to the New Orleans Pelicans for a 2015 first-round pick and Lin is expected to be moved soon, especially if the Rockets get commitment from one of their big targets this offseason.

Lin, who averaged 12.1 points and 4.1 assists per game last season, is reportedly now unhappy in Houston after the Rockets "disrespected" him for using his No. 7 jersey in their recruiting pitch to Anthony on Wednesday.

Previous reports indicated that the Rockets could trade Lin to the Golden State Warriors, who are planning to use their $9.8 million trade exception to acquire the 25-year-old forward without giving up any player in the deal.

Sources also indicated that the Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers recently had a discussion about a possible trade involving Lin, but no deal is imminent at this point.
