Manchester City is on the verge of acquiring Malaga goalkeeper Willy Caballero as reports indicated that the two clubs have already agreed to a deal.
Marca reported that Caballero, who is currently on a vacation in his home country Argentina, will soon fly to Spain to sign his release papers with Malaga then proceed to Manchester to finalize the details of the transfer.
According to reports, Manchester City agreed to pay €7 million and another €4 million for incentives, but the deal is still pending until Caballero passes physicals and medical check-ups on Monday or Tuesday in Manchester.
Caballero has been linked to City over the past several months, but Malaga maintained that they are not planning to sell the 32-year-old goalkeeper, who has performed well with his Spanish club over the past three seasons. But on Sunday, Caballero posted a message on his Twitter account, suggesting that he is on his way out of Malaga.
"I am reading all that you write to me. I appreciate it from the heart. But I am not going to say goodbye from there. I hope to be able to do it in the right way," Caballero posted in Spanish via ESPNFC.
Malaga president Abdulla Al Thani recently posted on his Twitter account that they are doing their best to keep Caballero.
"I am sure he's happy at Malaga CF," Al Thani said of Caballero. "We didn't get any official letter from Manchester City to buy Willy. Me as a chairman of Malaga CF I would never let him go. He has been the best goalkeeper in those whole three years."
Al Thani conceded, though, that they can't do anything and won't stand in Caballero's way if he wants to have a change of scenery this summer.
"I mentioned previously that we can't keep him if he wants to leave and the end it is his decision and I'm sure being with us will be his best decision, Malaga CF are his number 1 fans," Al Thani added.
