Josh Charles, the actor who played Will Gardner in CBS' critically acclaimed legal drama "The Good Wife," is making a comeback in the upcoming season of the show. However, he is not going to play his late character (unless Gardner turns into a walker).
According to TV Guide, 42-year-old actor Josh Charles is returning to "The Good Wife" after being killed off in the fifth run of the series.
It can be noted that Charles' character was gunned down and killed during a courtroom shooting scene, which was quite bizarre for many fans since Gardner was apparently one of the show's lead from the get-go.
Josh's character had been the on-again, off-again lover of protagonist Alicia Florrick, played by Julianna Margulies, so it didn't make sense to see Will getting killed in the middle of all the unresolved drama in the storyline of the show.
Following that episode however, CBS, along with Charles, addressed the issue revealing that it had to be done since the 42-year-old Emmy-nominated actor had decided to leave the show for good.
Nevertheless, news about his comeback for the sixth season of the series came as shocking as his exit from the show.
Apparently, Charles isn't back to act in front of the camera, rather he has returned to take the helm for one of the season 6 episodes, directing his former co-stars.
This is not the first time Josh is actually taking the director's seat; it's actually his fourth now.
In Season 4, he directed "The Art of War" episode while in Season 5, he directed two episodes, namely: "The Next Month" and "Tying the Knot."
No further details on his directorial comeback have been revealed by CBS as of late.
"The Good Wife" is returning for Season 6 on Sept. 21, Sunday, at 9/8c on CBS.
