Boxing News 2014: Roy Jones Jr. Set to Return on July 26 Against Courtney Fry in Latvia

Roy Jones Jr. is past his prime, but the former boxing pound-for-pound king will look to make headlines when makes his return to the ring.
ESPN reported that Jones is scheduled to face Briton boxer Courtney Fry in a non-title, 12-round cruiserweight showdown on July 26 in Riga, Latvia.
Although the 45-year-old Florida native is already a shadow of his old self, Jones vowed to show that he still has a lot of gas left in his tank in his return fight, while also adding that he is expecting an action-packed showdown against Fry, who holds an 18-5 record with six knockout wins.
"I know he'll give it all he got, which is what I want from any opponent," Jones said. "I want to go out and do my thing and take what I've been doing in the gym to the boxing ring."
The Jones-Fry showdown will be the main event of the fight card that will also feature former super middleweight champion James Toney, who will face 6-foot-9 Russian giant Evgeny Orlov.
KP Promotions reportedly tried to arrange a rematch between Jones and Toney, but Jones declined, saying that he sees no reason to face his former rival, whom he dominated in their IBF super middleweight showdown in November 1994.
"I'm not doing that. For what reason? What do I gain from that? What am I gaining from that fight," Jones said of the proposed rematch with Toney. "I already beat him and beating him again does nothing for me. Besides, I want to fight for the cruiserweight title. I ain't interested in going up to heavyweight again."
Jones, who won against Max Alexander, Pawel Glazewski, and Zine Eddine Benmakhlouf in his last three fights said that he is looking to score an impressive victory and hopefully earn a shot at a cruiserweight world title.
"[I want to] knock off the rust, win and hope I get a bigger opportunity. I want to go for a cruiserweight world title. I'm an entertainer but I still fight and I still love to fight. You got to keep active and win and you will get a shot," Jones said.
