Amir Khan is still aching to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May 2015, but the if the fight doesn't happen, the Briton said that he is also interested in facing Manny Pacquiao.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Khan, who got snubbed by Mayweather earlier this year, said that the fight against the pound-for-pound king is still on top of his list, but he is also ready for any eventuality.
"If the Mayweather fight happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. It's one of those fights I wanted and everyone else wanted. I really believe the speed could have given him a lot of problems," Khan said.
And if Mayweather decides to face another opponent in May, the 27-year-old Briton said that will look to secure a showdown against Pacquiao.
Khan said that a fight against Pacquiao could do good numbers, considering the fact that fight fans will be intrigued about watching a fight between former sparring and stable mates. The Bolton, England native used to train with Pacquiao when he was still under Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.
"Manny Pacquiao is another name. What a great story line that would make. Amir Khan fighting his old sparring partner and friend, Manny Pacquiao," Khan said. "Freddie Roach used to train me, so there's a lot of history there. That would be a huge fight."
Khan added that he has high respect to Pacquiao, saying that the former pound-for-pound king is still one of the top fighters in the world today, but he insisted that he wants a big fight against the Filipino boxing icon.
"I know what to expect from Manny Pacquiao. We used to get the better of him in sparring and everything," Khan added. "Manny Pacquiao is still the same fighter. I still have a lot of respect for him, he's a great fighter, but these are the fights I want."
But before earning a shot against either Pacquiao or Mayweather, Khan needs another impressive victory in his upcoming fight that could take place in December.
According to Khan, they are considering several fighters for the December fight, including Robert Guerrero and Devon Alexander. Andre Berto is also being mentioned as one of the possible opponents for Khan, but the fight is highly unlikely at this point because the two fighters are both under trainer Virgil Hunter.
