Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola expressed concern about his job status, but club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that the veteran mentor has nothing to worry about.
In an interview with German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, Rummenigge assured that Guardiola will not be sacked as if saying that the former Barcelona coach has a job for life.
"Bayern are never going to sack Pep Guardiola," Rummenigge said. "I can even put that in writing for you."
Guardiola, who took charge since the start of the previous season, helped Bayern win four trophies last season - pushing the club total titles to eight over the past two seasons -- and Rummenigge is expecting that the club will be able to sustain their momentum next season.
"We have two perfect years behind us, won eight titles and some of our players have even put the cherry on top with the World Cup," Rummenigge said. "And now we will continue setting records by being better than we've ever been after a World Cup."
Guardiola recently said that he knows that his job could be on the line next season if they don't match their success over the past two seasons.
"If I don't win, then probably another coach comes here next year," Guardiola said. "I'm here to do as good a job as possible, like I did at Barcelona."
Guardiola enjoyed a lot of success during his four-year stint in Barcelona, helping the Spanish club win two Champions League titles, three La Liga titles, and two Copa Del Rey titles.
The 43-year-old coach is looking to duplicate his success with Bayern Munich, but the upcoming season could be a challenging one for Guardiola, knowing that his players might lose their hunger following their success over the past two years.
Bayern Munich also has six players in the Germany team that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but Guardiola sees no problem with it.
"I'm really pleased for them," Guardiola said. "It's a real gift for Bayern Munich that six of our players contributed to that title."
