World War II Vet Beating - an 86-year-old war veteran was attacked, beaten and robbed just outside a hospital over the holiday weekend, Cincinnati.com has learned.

According to local authorities, the victim in the World War II vet beating story was just visiting his sick wife at the Good Samaritan Hospital when someone attacked him and tried to grab his wallet.

The perpetrator was identified as 30-year-old Craig Phelps of Sharonville, and he has since been charged after beating the World War II vet.

Hamilton Country court records reveal that the veteran, Paul Browning was attacked just outside the Dixmyth Avenue hospital in University Heights on Saturday.

Phelps allegedly slammed him against the wall and tried to grab the old man's wallet out of his pocket.

After the World War II vet beating, the suspect was spotted and arrested by police an hour later.

Phelps was booked in the country jail and is held on $26,000 bond on charges of robbery, possession of a drug abuse instrument and criminal damaging and endangering.

It was found out that Phelps had been using heroin when he was taken into custody.

The 30-year-old admitted that he used to shoot up heroin when police found a needle among his belongings.

Meanwhile, the family of the victim in the World War II vet beating story claimed that Browning was left with physical damages. He face was bruised and swollen and his mouth reportedly required a couple of stitches, reported ABC News.

"He (Paul Browning) said, 'I thought, I need to get away from there in case he came back,'" the victim's son, Marvin, said, adding that his father drove home but they brought him back to the hospital for treatment.

Apart from the physical injuries, doctors are currently looking into a potential heart issue in Browning.

The perpetrator in the World War II vet beating story is due in court Sept. 10. His attorney has not responded to the media as of late.
