Wendy Davis, the Texas Democratic aspirant running for governor revealed in a new memoir that she has two abortions for medical reasons. She momentarily delayed passage of comprehensive new Texas abortion law restrictions.

Wendy Davis revealed in a new promotion memoir that she had two abortions in the '90s, including ending an earlier ectopic pregnancy and one where the fetus had developed a severe brain abnormality.

In Forgetting to be Afraid, a memoir written by Wendy Davis, she exposed her two abortions that she described with medical reasons. She divulged the terminated pregnancies for the first time since her 13-hours filibuster that required her to talk nonstop on planned legislation which was the tough new Texas abortion law last year.

The pregnancies happened before Wendy Davis, a Texas gubernatorial candidate and a state senator from Fort Worth, started her political career and after she was a mother to two young girls.  She wrote that the ectopic pregnancy happened in 1994 during her first trimester.

Wendy Davis also wrote in her memoir that terminating the pregnancy was considered medically necessary and such pregnancies commonly weren't considered doable. However, in Texas it is technically considered an abortion and doctors have to report the incident.

Wendy Davis, an aspiring Texas governor and running against Republican Attorney General Greg Abott, who is highly preferred to replace Republican Governor Rick Perry next year, stated that in 1996 she and her former husband ended up expecting another child that later revealed with brain defect, so a pregnancy termination was deemed ideal.

In her June 2013 filibuster, Wendy Davis set off a chaotic scene in Texas capitol. Anti-abortion militants, including those who have attacked her candidacy, voiced compassion for the tough choice she defied in terminating her pregnancy.

The daughter of former Texas Governor Ann Richards, Cecile Richards, Planned Parenthood President, said in her statement that she was appreciative of Wendy Davis for sharing her story however no woman should have to substantiate her decision.

The new Texas abortion law that was sojourned by a federal judge last month mandated doctors who perform abortion to acquire admitting privileges at nearby hospitals and required that clinics upgrade its facilities to hospital-level operating standards.

As Texas governor aspirant, Wendy Davis publicized her abortion experiences; she paved way for opportunities and comprehensive understanding to possibly revise the new Texas abortion law.
