Tiger Woods Injury Return Update: Woods Won’t Hire Swing Coach Soon, Working On Strength For December Comeback

Tiger Woods recently parted ways with swing coach Sean Foley, fueling speculations that the golf superstar will reunite with one of his two former mentors, but the former world No. 1 said that he is not yet thinking about it.
In a press conference to promote the Hero World Challenge, Woods did not talk about the possibility of hiring either Butch Harmon or Hank Haney, saying that he is not focused on hiring a new coach at this point, saying that he is working hard to regain his old form.
"Am I looking for a new coach? As of right now, no, I'm not," Woods said via CBS Sports. "Right now I'm just trying to get physically better, stronger, faster, more explosive. I'm in no hurry to look for one right now. As I said, I'm just focused on what I'm doing."
Woods also said that he has yet to swing a golf club since failing to make the cut at the 2014 PGA Championship, but he revealed that he has been working hard to get himself in shape, confidently saying that he is slowly getting his strength back.
"I haven't swung a golf club yet," Woods said via ESPN. "I've just been shadow swinging without a club, but I've been busting my butt in the gym pretty hard. I've got my strength back, which is nice. Now the next goal is to get my explosiveness and my fast twitch going, and that's the next phase of my training."
The 38-year-old golf superstar has been bothered by an ailing back since March, which forced him to undergo back surgery. Woods sustained a different injury in his back recently, which was the main reason why he failed to make the cut at the PGA Championship.
Following his stint at the PGA Championship, the 14-time major champion revealed that he will take a rest until the World Challenge in December.
"I felt good enough to do it, and the only unfortunate part is I couldn't maintain the conditioning," Woods said. "I wasn't as conditioned as I needed to be. So as the tournament would wear on, I would get more and more fatigued and tired, and I wasn't as explosive, I wasn't as strong because I couldn't burn the candle at both ends."
