After a month of being caught and detained due to possession of marijuana, Jackie Chan's son, Jaycee Chan, is now put into formal arrest.
Beijing police made a formal arrest of the Jackie's son, Jaycee Chan. It is due to the possession of an illegal drug, marijuana, that was found at his home. The said offense does have a maximum sentence of 3 years imprisonment.
It was the prosecutor's office of Dongcheng that had released the approval for the formal arrest of Chan. This was in response to the request made by the police for the past week.
In China, it is a requirement to seek for an official approval first from the prosecutors before to have a formal arrest on a suspect. It is during the period when a person is formally arrested that police can continue on their investigation.
Jackie Chan son arrested had made news since he is dubbed as the highest profile celebrity for an entrapment for an anti-drug case. He was then detained way back on August 14 alongside with Ko Kai, who happens to be his friend and a Taiwanese movie star.
The police reported that Chan and Ko have been tested positive for the use of marijuana and have admitted that they have used the drug. Also, 100 g worth of marijuana was found right at the home of Chan.
On the other hand, Jackie Chan as a father to Jaycee had made a public apology for his son's mishap and had promised that he will be working together with his son on the road to recovery.
This is just one of the many cases wherein celebrities where arrested due to the illegal use of drugs in the pursuit of following President Xi Jinping declaration to wipe out drugs and to give severe punishment to the offenders.
