Hip Hop/Soul singer Lauryn Hill has been on the receiving end of uncomplimentary reactions in a rare UK comeback show, after fans complained of poor sound quality and the questionable Hip Hop influenced rendition of her hit songs.
The show at the Brixton Academy is part of an attempt by the former Fugee singer to relaunch her career after she dropped out of the limelight a few years ago to take care of her children. But things went off to a sour start when Ms. Hill, who allegedly arrived about an hour and thirty minutes late, took to the stage and started performing.
According to some of her fans at the show, the sound level was too high and the singer's renditions of her songs were not audible. Reports indicate that many attendants of the concerts walked out, while other booed as loud as they could to express their displeasure.
Ms Hill, as she prefers to be known, is widely acclaimed for attempting daring experimental renditions of her hit songs during concerts. The recent Hip Hop project that went awry comes as no surprise for many music experts. The 39-years old versatile singer was widely regarded as one of the premier songstresses in Hip Hop in the hay day of her career. Although reports indicate that she is working on a new album. Local sources say Ms. Hill did not perform any new songs in her latest concert.
It is unclear how this incident will affect her comeback plans. However, experts have noted that she still has a huge following as more than 4,000 fans turned up for the sold out concert, which was also trending on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Ms. Hill's managers are yet to reveal the reasons for the alleged poor sound quality at the songbird's concert. The award winning O2 Academy is one of Britain's foremost concert venues and boasts of an "incredible" production capacity.
