The FBI has announced on Thursday that investigators have been able to identify the masked jihadist who decapitated three westerners on camera.

According to the director of the FBI, James Comey, who declined to disclose many details about the suspect, the man who apparently is from the North American region was identified by the FBI with the support of its allies.

The videos of the gruesome murders of American nationals James Foley and Steven Scotloff as well as Brit national David Haines allegedly by the same English-speaking man sparked international outrage and concerns. Earlier in the month, the CIA announced that the number of foreign nationals in the ranks of the terrorists has tripled since the group began their insurrection a few months ago.

British authorities had revealed that they were close to identifying the secretive suspect, who allegedly spoke in a British accent. In August, the British Ambassador Peter Westmacott told the press that his government was using sophisticated technology to attempt to identity the suspect. There are some rumors that the unnamed suspect is indeed a British national who joined the group in Syria.

Last month, US lawmakers offered to reward $10 million to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. It is unclear what the next line of action by the authorities would be. Some commentators say the relatives and acquaintances of the suspect are likely to be taken in for questioning.

Since the beginning of the month, the US and her allies, including Britain, France and several Arab nations have been attacking the ravaging terrorists with air raids. But many experts say the use of ground forces is necessary if the rise of these extremists is to be stopped.

ISIS has relied on brutality to convey their message. Experts say it is likely the group would stage more executions. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, an Algerian Islamic extremist group allied to ISIS is reported to have decapitated a French national they had kidnapped over the weekend.
