Recent rumors indicated that Google might unveil a new Android L device with sources saying that the new Nexus 8 and HTC Nexus 9 is set to be unveiled on October 16, multiple reports suggested.
Rumors about the new Nexus 8/9 became rampant as Nexus6now reported alleged price, specs, features and release date of the said device. According to the report, the Nexus 8 or Nexus 9 will directly compete with the new tablets from Samsung and Sony in the next several weeks as HTC has impressed with their recent products.
The Nexus 8/9 will reportedly feature an 8-inch Quad HD display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio, and the Nexus6now analyst believe that it is a very good choice from HTC.
"The Nexus will feature an 8 inch Quad HD display, a total resolution of 2560×1440 with a 16:9 aspect ratio," Nexus6now reported. "Yeah we have already seen that on the Nexus 10, but on a smaller screen combining it with Super LCD technology from HTC, this display will be amazing. While the 8 inch might impress us, like other HTC flagships, the Nexus 8 will be made from metal with some polycarbonate fillings here and there."
Aside from the impressive display, the new tablet will allegedly boast a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 SoC combined with 3GB RAM, which makes it perfectly compatible with the Android L.
Wireless charging could also be supported as there will be a back panel accessory for QI Charging compatibility with some rumors also suggesting that it could be a waterproof device.
Sound will not be an issue as well since it is expected to feature Boom Sound speakers, while the Nexus 8/9 will also be a friendly device for selfies.
"We will also be seeing some innovations to the camera as well. An 8 Megapixel ultrapixel rear camera will go along nicely with the tab and for selfie freak a 5 Megapixel wide angle lens camera will be setup too. Both the camera setup will offer bright and sharp images in any time of the day," Nexus6now added.
As for the price, the new Nexus tablet will reportedly sell at $400 and will be available in October.
