Delaware State Police said that a mother of a 4-year old girl was arrested after her daughter mistakenly took hundreds of heroin packets and brought into a daycare center. Thinking it was candy, she began sharing it out to her classmates.

People.com reported that the authorities said that several children who received the heroine packets from the 4-year old girl Monday were sent to the hospital as a precaution. However, none of the packets were actually opened and all of the kids were released after being examined.

Delaware authorities said that the 4-year old girl unknowingly brought the heroin packets to the center when her mother gave her a different bag because her original backpack was destroyed by the family's pet. Police said that the backpack contained approximately 250 packets of heroin totaling nearly 4 grams, and all were labeled "Slam."

Yahoo! News reported that Ashley Tull, the mother of the 4-year old girl was charged with three counts of endangering the Welfare of a Child and Maintaining a Drug Property. She was prosecuted Monday in Justice of the Peace Court and was released after posting a $6,000 secured bond. A no contact order was also set in place with her three children, all who are in the custody of a relative.

Delaware authorities said that 30-year old Ashley Tull has two additional children, a 9-year old boy and an 11-year old girl, who live in her home along with her 4-year old daughter.

Delaware State Police spokesperson Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said that drug possession is a distinct crime. Detectives are also conducting more investigations and more charges may be filed. Fournier also believed that the daycare center have handled the situation properly and notified the authorities immediately when it happened.

The 4-year old girl thought that the white powdery substance, which was still enclosed in the bags were candies. Teachers removed the heroine contents from the child's bag and troopers were called to the Hickory Tree Child Care Center located at 2 Hickory Tree Lane in Selbyville at around 11 in the morning.
