Carlos Boozer believes that he will have resurgence in the upcoming season, and he believes that Los Angeles Lakers veterans Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash will help him regain his confidence.
Boozer said in an interview with Mark Medina of Inside SoCal that his transition from being a player of the Chicago Bulls to wearing the purple and gold jersey has been very smooth so far.
The All-Star forward believes that he will have a lot of opportunity to make an impact, pointing out that Bryant still has the ability to draw the defense, which will lead to scoring chances for him.
"Obviously Kobe can score. He does that like breathing. But he also does a good job of drawing the defense in and setting us up for jump shots," Boozer said of Bryant.
Boozer also added that Nash has been performing well in training camp. Despite being bothered by various injuries over the past several years, the 32-year-old forward said that Nash still has the ability to make his teammates better with his superb play-making skills.
"Steve is amazing man. He's really good, man," Boozer said of Nash. "I really enjoy playing with Steve. It makes the game really easy, great vision, great decision making, his efficiency's gotta be through the roof because he knocks down open shots. But he makes us all better too. It's like he creates a shot for you so all you have to do is shoot it. He does all your work for you so all you've got to do is shoot it."
Boozer, who averaged 13.7 points and 8.3 rebounds last season, is convinced that the Lakers will bounce back in the upcoming season under new coach Byron Scott, who also had kind words for the former Duke University standout.
"Carlos has got a lot of experience and understands how to play this game," Scott said. "He's a good communicator out there. We know he's a guy who can make mid-range shots. We know we can also throw it to him in the post a little bit too. Just trying to utilize him the best way we can to make him very effective on the court for us"
