Creepy Clown Terrorizes California Town - Since the beginning of the month, residents of Wasco, CA, have been treated to sporadic terror shows by some mysterious clowns.
The internet has been abuzz with gossip about these creepy clowns terrorizing California since the past week. An Instagram account associated with one of these characters has since surfaced. Reports indicate that several calls have been made to the police about sightings of these untoward figures.
There are some claims that one of the unidentified creepy clowns terrorizing California is armed. According to perezhilton.com, eyewitnesses who have seen the colorful figure say he/she is holding a bunch of balloons and several weapons - including an axe and a hammer.
Some commentators have explained the presence of these clowns as a way of spreading the Halloween feeling in the little town. But it is unclear who are behind it and why the creepy clowns terrorize California.
Last year, residents of Northampton, England, were subjected to a similar freak show a short while before the Halloween.
Meanwhile, a couple have confessed to posting pictures of one of the clowns online. According to the unidentified duo interviewed by KGET News 17, the gaffe is part of a year-long art project they have been engaged in. However, the couple distanced themselves from any scheme to spread violence or mass panic by creating the 'Creepy clown terrorizes California' performance.
Many legal experts say if indeed the clown is armed, he could be arrested for spreading panic. The head of Wasco Police Department, Sgt Ian Chandler, has told the press that he is currently unaware of any criminal act involving the clowns.
"I am looking into it; it's my understanding there is a Twitter account and possible a Facebook account in this," he said, adding that "We have had no reports of any assaults by a clown nor have we any arrests of any clown at any time I have been here and I have been here two years."
'Creepy clown terrorizes California' has been trending on social media since the beginning of the month. The fear of clowns, known as coulrophobia, is a condition that many people pick up during their childhood. Evidently, some people continue have found it difficult to lose that infantile apprehension.
