New Apple iPads Coming Out: Specs, Release Date And Other Tidbits

Apple's new iPads coming out in only a few days have been one of the most dominant topics on social media and tech forums since the beginning of the week.
Things peaked mid-week after the company uncharacteristically let an image of one of the devices slip out to the public. While the reportedly accidental leak of the new devices raised more speculation about them, it also killed the anticipation of many who have concluded that the new iPads coming out will not be very different from the ones already on the market.
On Thursday, Apple unveiled the new iPads coming out soon to journalists and other relevant parties at an event in Cupertino, CA.
Many pundits have noted that the most impressive of the new iPads coming out is the iPad Air 2. This device, which is only 6.1mm thick, will be the thinnest tablet on the market when it is launched on Monday. Although it looks quite similar to the iPad Air 1 in many respects, this new release beats the older version by being 1.4mm less thick.
The new iPad Air 2 also sports a new processor chip, which is expected to make it notably faster than its predecessors. Other specs are anti-reflective screen coating, a new touch ID finger sensor and an improved FaceTime camera. The rest of the features are basically the same as the iPad Air 1. Reports indicate that the device will sell at about $640 for the 16GB model and $769 for the 32GB version.
Meanwhile, the second of the new iPads coming out - the iPad mini 3 - is expected to start at $385. Many commentators have noted that the new iPad mini 3 is disappointingly similar to its predecessor - the iPad mini 2.
The most notable difference between the iPad mini 2 and 3 is the new touch ID sensor and the fact that buyers of the new device have the option of opting for a golden housing.
Apple's new iPads coming out next week are being released at a time when the sales of tablet devices are slowing. Reports indicate that there has only been an 11% year-over-year growth on the sales of these gadgets this year, as compared to an impressive 55% in 2013.
Others have noted that the company may struggle to move units of the new iPads coming out as they are strikingly similar to previous versions on the market.
