Ottawa gunman ID'ed: A Canadian native, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, has on Wednesday been identified as the gunman responsible for the deadly attacks on Parliament Hill on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the gunman, who was born in the North American country in 1982, recently converted to Islam. Thereafter he changed his name from Michael Joseph Hall to Michael Zehaf-Bibeauand.
The Ottawa gunman ID'ed is believed to have been killed in a cross fire with police officers on the corridor of the parliament building yesterday.
Michael Zehaf-Bibeau attacked the National War Memorial and fatally shot a guard on duty.
The solider, who has since been identified as 24-years-old Cpl.Nathan Cirillo, later died in a hospital of complications resulting from the gunshot wounds. The gunman's actions forced authorities to put the entire Ottawa's downtown area on lock down for a few hours on Wednesday.
The shooting, described as a terrorist plot, is the second attack in the country in just three days. On Tuesday, two soldiers were targeted in a hit and run incident. One of the soldiers targeted in the attack has been confirmed dead, while the other sustained minor injuries.
Canada's Prime Minster said in a statement that the county was "not immune to the types of terrorist attacks we have seen elsewhere." He insisted that "Canada will never be intimated," and would continue to fight against terrorism.
Reports from CNEWS indicate that a Twitter account "associated with terror group the Islamic State (ISIS) tweeted out a photo they identified as the Ottawa shooter - a young man with long, dark hair holding a long gun."
Although the face of the Ottawa gunman ID'ed has not been made public, many pundits suspect that Bibeau is indeed by the same person.
ISIL subsequently released another image. This time that of Martin Rouleau, the Canadian man behind the previous attack on two of the country's soldiers.
The Ottawa gunman ID'ed is reported to have a police records related to drug possession. His passport had reportedly been seized recently after he was deemed a "high risk traveler".
