"Ouija" is a 2014 American supernatural horror-thriller film set to be released on Oct. 24, 2014. It is the first Hasbro properties produced by Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse Production as well as Hasbro's first horror film.

The movie features Daren Kagasoff, Douglas Smith, Olivia Cooke, Ana Coto, Bianca A. Santos, Erin Moriarty, and Vivis Colombetti.  The "Ouija" movie 2014 is directed by Stiles White and co-written with Juliet Snowden.

The supernatural horror movie depicts the plot of a girl who is mysteriously killed after recording herself playing with an ancient "Ouija" board. Her death leads to a close group of friends to investigate the board. The group later found out that some things are not meant to be played with, particularly the "other side."

"Ouija" started filming in mid-December 2013 in Los Angeles and Universal has set the movie for an Oct. 24 release in the United States.

The horror film, "Ouija," has received mostly negative reviews from film review aggregators Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. The film was considered to have "generally unfavorable reviews."

According to a 2014 movie review by The Washington Post, "Ouija" starts off conjuring a nicely unnerving atmosphere of horror but it eventually goes too far, making the barely perceptible space between the spirit realm and the one the story depicts all to "eye-rollingly literal."

However, "Ouija" features a strong, believable cast. The film is quite good at conveying a mixture of healthy skepticism and morbid fascination that is needed to pull the viewers into the story.

Meanwhile, The Post-Gazette said "Ouija" aims to have a PG-13 rating targeting the teen audience. The 2014 movie preview strikes a sweet spot for many teens and tweens though adults may feel underwhelmed or find some effects on the film laughable.

As stated by Variety, "Ouija" is a trivial but deadpan supernatural thriller that manages to provoke an occasional trembling in between cheap surprises and false frights, developing as a feat of competent direction over imitative scripting.

While most of the scares in "Ouija" movie 2014 have become the standard with so much contemporary horror, the makers are hoping for friendly box office spirits on its Oct. 24 release. They are optimistic that it may follow at least through the Halloween weekend.
