The friendship of Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki has been well documented since the two elite female netters were spotted frolicking on the beach of Miami in July.

Despite their non-stop partying, the two reached greater heights this year with Williams earning her 18^th Grand Slam title at US Open and Wozniacki cracking into the top-8 for the first time in two years.    

There's no doubt that they are having a lot of fund and success in each other's companion. The biggest question now is will they take their friendship into another level by playing as doubles partners in future tournaments?

Serena, who finished the WTA season on top of the world ranking after her triumphant stint in the tour finals in Singapore, has been the gold standard of women's tennis.

Aside from 18 Grand Slam titles, Serena and his sister Venus has formed one of the most dominate women's double tandem in the history of the sport as the Williams sister captured 13^th Grand Slam championship. But unlike Serena's continuous domination beyond her 30s, her partnership with Venus stopped winning titles at 29-years old.

Many analysts believed Venus' declining game due to various injuries might have ended the sister's dominance in women's doubles. The result, the Williams sister found their selves without a title in the last 9 Grand Slam tournaments in doubles play.

Enter Wozniacki to the picture. At still a very young age of 24, Caroline has a lot of years left as a pro and yet she already achieved many great things in her career.

Three years ago, Wozniacki was the top cog in women's singles play as she ended two consecutive years on top of the WTA world ranking. While she's still looking for her first Grand Slam title, Woz already played in two Grand Slam women's singles final (both in the US Open Championships).

Unlike singles play where pure individual talent is needed to win, women's double does not only demand a strong skill-set but harmonious chemistry between the partners. As the friendship between Williams and Wozniacki goes even deeper, the more they are fitting to play together as doubles partner.

Although there's no announcement yet about their future plans, it would be interesting to see how a Serena-Wozniacki duo would look like against the top doubles players in the world. As of now, it remains nothing but a wishful thinking; nevertheless, it's something fans should really watch for in the future.
