Director Mike Nichols Dies at 83

Famous American film and theater director Mike Nichols died of heart attack at 83 on November 19, 2014. He was found dead inside his Manhattan apartment in New York City.

Nichols was known for his works in Who's Afraid of Virginia Work as well as winning Best Director at the Academy Awards for his movie, The Graduate. He started in the industry early in the 50s when he was still doing some comedy shows. He directed the hit TV series Angels in America and he also worked with different theater products like The Odd Couple, Luv and Spamalot just to name a few.

His death is indeed a huge loss in the industry of film and theater. He has worked with lots of the biggest celebrities and all of them united to mourn for his death. Actors like Angelina Jolie, Whoopie Goldberg are among the many who wish the late director to rest in peace.

A lot of major publications have written tribute to him and all his works. His critically acclaimed works have earned numerous awards and recognitions worldwide.

The late director had quite an interesting background coming to America. He was originally from a German family who left the Nazi government when he was only 7 to come to New York. Growing up he doesn't know much of the English language but he learned and educated himself with the culture and the arts that surrounded him. He eventually became well versed. His interests in theater were sparked when he was at the University of Chicago. He found himself sneaking into doing plays than actually studying medicine, which his family wants him to do.

The late Mike Nichols has served an inspiration to many actors and other artists to pursue their dream and passion no matter what happens.
