Morgantown Shooting - Authorities in West Virginia have commenced a manhunt for a man suspected of having shot and killed four people in three different shooting incidents.
Police say there were shootings in Westover area as well as the Cheat Lake region in Monongalia County on Monday morning.
Authorities have identified the suspect behind the Morgantown shooting as 39 years old Lee Hunt of Westover. Hunt was found shortly afterwards dead from suspected self-inflicted injuries.
Earlier the police said he is believed to be driving a black 2011 Ford F-150, with the words "Rough County" written on the back window. It is unclear how he sustained the gunshot wound and if he was found in his truck.
Hunt is believed to have specifically targeted the victims in the Morgantown shooting. State Police spokesman Lt. Michael Baylous announced that 39 years old Sharon Kay Berkshire of Westover and 28 years old Michael David Frum of Maidville were the victims of from the Cheat Lake shooting. Doud Brady of Westover has been identified as the third victim. He was one of the victims in the Westover shooting.
Authorities are yet to disclose the identity of the fourth victim of the deadly Morgantown shooting.
As a precaution, West Virginia officials had placed all schools within Monongalia County on lockdown as the police searched for Hunt. Westover police Sgt. M. Starsick said no schools had been involved in the incident.
The motive for the Morgantown shooting is not clear, although investigators have found a Facebook post containing hints of Hunt's problems with a woman; most likely an ex-girlfriend or wife.
According to Monongalia County Circuit Court records, one of the victims, Sharon Kay Berkshire, filed a domestic violence case against Hunt just last month.
"I poured out my heart to her only to be manipulated as to what I could give her," Hunt's Facebook post reads. "Life is short. It's not all games. Dont play a game with one's heart."
"My actions were not right nor were the actions of those who tried to tear me down and take from me. This was not the plan but a struggle to see that those who strive to hurt me received their fair pay of hurt like I received, he wrote.
The Morgantown shooting has left locals shocked.
