"Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn revealed that the cast may change in the upcoming sequel, Cinema Blend reported.

In the comics, Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" do not always have the same line-up of team members. Characters change as plot develops, which made fans wonder if the same thing will happen in the movies. This speculation has been confirmed by the director himself.

"Definitely. It's not a concrete roster where those five people will always be the Guardians of the Galaxy. Some of those people can leave and do other things; other characters can join in and be new additions. Definitely it will not stay the same - into the next movie," Gun said, according to Cinema Blend.

Gun did not confirm the names involved for the character change. The most popular heroes, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot may possibly be replaced by superhuman Adam Warlock, angel/hunter Angela Moondragon and more.

Speaking of the cast, Gunn also promised that alien villain Nebula will have a bigger exposure in the sequel.  Gunn added that he has plans for his favorite villain.

Meanwhile, the director answered questions about superhuman Nova a.k.a Rich Rider's appearance in the next film.

"I don't want Nova right now because I think [Peter] Quill being the only earthling is important"
That serves the entire movie going audience and not just the handful of Nova fans... I have nothing against Nova in future movies, but it doesn't serve the movie right this moment," Gunn wrote on Facebook, Digital Spy reported.

While waiting for the sequel to arrive, fans can enjoy the first movie in Blu-ray and On-Demand on Dec. 9.  The digital copy includes deleted scenes, making of characters, exclusive preview of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," gag reel and audio commentary, according to IGN.

"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" has a release date of May 5, 2017.
