Amtrak Stabbing: Michigan Man Arrested After Stabbing 4 Passengers Aboard Amtrak Train

Amtrak Stabbing - A man suspected of stabbing four people including the conductor of an eastbound Amtrak passenger train in southwest Michigan has been arrested.

Reports from the Niles Police Department indicate that the incident happened on Friday at 7 p.m. Officials say victims of the Amtrak stabbing have been transported via ambulances to the Lakeland Niles Hospital and the Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Ind for treatment.

Authorities declined to disclose the names of the victims of the Amtrak stabbing. But local sources say they are two men and two women. Reports indicate that the first victim of the Amtrak stabbing was a male. It is unclear if the suspect knew any of his victims.

Niles Mayor Michael McCauslin said no causalities have been recorded. However, he revealed that two of the Amtrak stabbing victims were in surgery.

The identity of the suspect behind the Amtrak stabbing has not also been disclosed. However, local sources have described the assailant as a 44-year-old man from Saginaw, Mic.

Reports indicate that the suspect was acting suspicious prior to the Amtrak stabbing attack. He reportedly started attacking fellow passengers after police officials boarded the train. According to witnesses, the incident happened quickly, the suspect stabbed the victims and tried to escape on foot. But police arrested him after stunning him with a taser gun.

Amtrak has issued a statement confirming the attack aboard the train, which was heading to Port Huron from Chicago. Train 364 of the Blue Water line was at the train station in Niles  and about 172 passengers were reportedly aboard the train when the incident occurred .

Amtrak said some of the passengers were stranded in Niles as police questioned them and combed the train for evidence in connection with the stabbing. Amtrak has reportedly offered alternative transportation to the passengers.

Authorities have not released a motive for the Amtrak stabbing.
