Benedict Cumberbatch is rumored to shoot a came for the upcoming film "Avengers: Age Of Ultron," The Inquisitr reported.

Marvel has officially announced that Cumberbatch is set to play the role of Doctor Strange in the title film.  The news has been linked to the reshooting of the "Avengers" sequel.

The confirmation of his role as Doctor Strange generated rumors since it was in the middle of the shooting for the "Avengers." Speculations rise that he may appear in a cameo or post credit scene to introduce his character.

Before the actual movie starring the British star, he will probably appear in several Marvel films. Another possibility is that the actor may appear in the next "Captain America" movie.

"It makes sense because it would be closer to the release date of his solo film and could be his mini-introduction into the main story that Marvel is working on," the report said, according to EN Starz.

"Captain America's" Chris Evans and the "Avengers" cast Robert Downey Jr and Chris Hemsworth have gained more popularity due to the franchise. Cumberbatch already has a huge fan base that would attract fans to watch another Marvel super hero film.

Meanwhile, the actor has expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming role. "Excited. Really excited. There's a lot of work to be done and I'm just at the beginning of it all so I'm not going to talk too much about it but it's a thrilling gig to get. I just can't wait. Very excited," Cumberbatch said, Cinema Blend reported.

On the other hand, while the sequel is still filming, fans can enjoy behind the scenes treat by purchasing a Blu-ray copy of another Marvel creation "Guardians of the Galaxy."  The DVD will be released tomorrow featuring set videos, interviews and movie footage of the "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"Avengers: Age Of Ultron" will open in theaters on May 1, 2015 while "Doctor Strange" will premiere on November 4, 2016.
