It looks like mixed martial arts fans would have to withold their anticipation in seeing women's mixed martial arts standout turned Hollywood star Gina Carano.

In July, the UFC announced through company president Dana White that they were in talks with "Conviction" and her camp for a possible fighting deal. The announcement rightfully stirred up excitement among fans, who were clamoring to see Carano go up against the current face of women's fighting, undefeated women's bantamweight champion "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey.

During that time, the UFC and Carano were already reportedly in constant communication, with Dana White saying that it was only a matter of him and CEO Lorenzo Fertita jumping on a plane to Los Angeles to personally get in touch with the former Strikeforce women's fighter.

Rightfully, Rousey was eagerly looking forward to the would-be match-up, noting that it was the one thing that she wanted to do since she began her mixed martial arts career.

Carano began her mixed martial arts career in 2006, fighting for smaller promotions, before making her way to the now defunct Strikeforce promotion company. In fact, she was able to rack up consecutive victories, only to lose to then featherweight champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino in August 2009.

It marked Carano's only career loss before she went on a hiatus on fighting to do movies. She holds a win-loss record of 7-1, with four victories by stoppage.

Since then, she has continued to make her mark, this time, in Hollywood. Since her acting debut in 2007, she has already appeared in films such as 'Haywire', 'In the Blood', and 'Almost Human.' Her most notable film role was Riley Hicks for the sixth installment of the 'Fast & Furious' franchise.

After further failed negotiations and being branded by Dana White as the "hardest human being he has ever dealt with," it seems like Carano has opted to make more films instead.

In a report by MMA Weekly, Carano has signed on to be part of the cast of Radar Films' new project entitled "Kickboxer," where she will be joining fellow MMA fighter Georges St-Pierre, WWE superstar Dave Batista, and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Film producer Tim Field already gave a hint of what is to be expected from Carano.

"It will be fun to watch Gina as the sneaky and dangerous temptress, a boa constrictor of this fighting jungle," said Field.
