Athina Onassis 2014 - The French-Greek heiress and renowned equestrian athlete, Athina Onassis de Miranda burst into tears when her white mare Camille Z died after a show jumping accident in Geneva. According to a Swiss media, de Miranda fell at the competition when her horse broke a leg after missing a jump and crashed into a barrier.

This 2014, Athina Onassis de Miranda's horse was killed after a rare show-jumping accident on Thursday evening at the Credit Suisse Grand Prix event in Geneva, Switzerland. According to People, de Miranda's 11-year-old mare suffered a break in its rear leg.

A competitive show-jumper since her teens, Athina Onassis de Miranda has been riding Camille Z in competition since 2013. Together with her husband, Brazil's four-time Olympic rider Alvaro "Doda" Affonso de Miranda Neto, the couple travel the show-jumping circuit all year round while maintaining homes and stables in Sao Paolo, Florida and Belgium.

Athina Onassis de Miranda is the only living descendant of Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis, The Daily Mail reported. She was believed to have an inheritance in excess of $1 billion.

In spite of inheriting her grandfather's billion-dollar fortune, Athina Onassis de Miranda has largely lived a quiet life. She is an accomplished equestrian and the daughter of French pharmaceutical heir Thierry Roussel.

Prior to the death of her beloved mare this 2014, 29-year-old Athina Onassis de Miranda and Camille Z were competing in front of a full arena. Though her horse suffered a fatal injury, the French-Greek heiress was unharmed.

Athina Onassis de Miranda's 2014 accident brought the competition to a halt and a surprise silence to the CHI Geneva arena audience. According to the Tribune de Geneve, it required 45 minutes for teams to tranquilize the animal and remove it by ambulance to a veterinary family where the decision was made to euthanize the horse after an examination. The competition eventually resumed after an hour-long delay.

The 2014 accident of show-jumper Athina Onassis de Miranda happened during the qualifying rounds for the 54th CHI International horse show-jumping tournament in Switzerland, Hello Magazine reported. When the event resumed, de Miranda was clearly upset as she was seen in tears.
