HTC will start updating its devices with Android 5.0 Lollipop in 2015, International Business Times reported.
HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 models with HTC's Sense software may obtain Android 5.0 Lollipop software in the first week of January. HTC may announce the said roll out in London.
The Taiwanese smart phone manufacturer promised a quick update in the middle of the year after Google released the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Google launched the software in October and HTC has only 90 days to update some of their devices from the time they received it last November, Business Insider reported.
HTC shared the news via Twitter and posted: "We're still on track to update carrier versions of HTC One M7 & M8 within 90 days as well. More news on Unlocked and Dev editions soon!"
The update may be released in a few countries first before it becomes available internationally. The HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 Google Play Edition have already been updated to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. The latest development fixed the "factory reset bug" and the "video playback bug."
Desire 816, One Max and Butterfly S are some of the other HTC models that will reportedly receive the new software, according to NDTV.
Android 5.0 Lollipop was branded as one of the biggest updates ever. The software features cleaner design and smoother interface and animation. A new settings menu called Quick is also a highlight due to new controls such as flashlight, hotspot and cast screen. Android 5.0 Lollipop also has Factory Reset Protection that will erase the data of the device.
In addition, a guest user mode can be found in the new Messenger application. The new mode will allow the smartphone owner to control the screen so the guest user can only view displayed messages. Android 5.0 Lollipop also has a battery saving feature, which can extend up to 90 minutes.
Meawnhile, HTC smartphone users can check the company's site for the latest details about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
