Gaylard Williams - A south Indiana pastor, popular for his anti-gay sermons, has shocked his congregation following his arrest for sexually assaulting a young man whose genitals he grabbed and squeezed while demanding oral sex.
According to local reports, 59-year-old Gaylard Williams, who is the head pastor of the Praise Cathedral Church of God in Seymour, was arrested on Friday Dec. 12 after the victim reported the embarrassing incident to the police.
Reports indicate that the victim, whose identity has been withheld, told officials that Gaylard Williams approached his car, which was parked at Cypress Lake.
He alleged that when he rolled down the widows of his car to see what the stranger wanted, Pastor Gaylard Williams grabbed and squeezed his genitals while demanding that he performed oral sex on him.
Court reports reveal that Gaylard Williams only ran away after the victim told him he had the wrong guy and acted like he was reaching for a fire arm. Afterwards the young man dialed 9-1-1 and provided the details of his assailant's license plate while reporting the incident.
Reports indicate that when officials finally caught pastor Gaylard Williams, they discovered gay pornography in his car. But he denied they where his, explaining that he was only going to return them to a friend.
Gaylard Williams was still arrested and charged with battery. On Tuesday morning, he appeared at the Jackson County Superior Court.
The news of his arrest has stunned the members of his congregation, who looked to him as a man of God, upholding the Holy Scriptures and his sermons condemning homosexuality.
"I guess when you hear of a pastor getting caught of that, you get a little more shocked than I guess somebody else. But we're all sinners, so," said Caleb Funke, the youth director at a neighboring local church.
The news of the pastor's arrest has since gone viral on the Internet, especially on social media where many were not too surprised by the preacher's hypocrisy. Critics argue that people who are the most vicious persecutors of the LGBT community are gay themselves (or have those tendencies) but mask their emotions as extreme hate.
