Has Val Kilmer's weight issues finally resolved? On Monday, the 54-year-old "Batman" actor was spotted at a Levi's store in Malibu, California while doing his holiday shopping. He was unrecognizable when he was photographed that revealed his extremely thinner figure.
Val Kilmer has been struggling with weight issues since 2007. According to Yahoo! Celebrity, he was once called a "fat man" after putting on weight. But the latest sighting of him with a much slimmer frame has fueled many weight-related headlines and has stirred online controversies.
Val Kilmer's weight loss has not been an easy task for the actor. The Daily Mail said his strikingly slim figure was the result of an old-fashioned weight loss idea, which are dieting and long walks on the beach. When he was spotted in Malibu early this week, he was dressed in a button-up, slacks and sneakers while covering his lips with a piece of paper.
Val Kilmer, who has lost a lot of weight, has "looked in the mirror and realized he'd let himself go, and decided to change anything," TMZ reported. In August, Kilmer posted a picture of his weight-loss progress for his more than 150,000 Twitter followers.
In recent months, Kilmer has been busy filming his new film, "Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn," where he will play the iconic author Mark Twain. Additionally, ET Online reported that Kilmer, who will turn 55 on Dec. 31, will be featured in new Terrence Malick's untitled movie alongside actors Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling and Cate Blanchett.
Meanwhile, Val Kilmer mourned the death of British singer Joe Cocker on Monday. Cocker died of lung cancer at age 70 on his Colorado ranch.
On Tuesday afternoon, Val Kilmer finally addressed the weight-loss controversies that sparked online after the release of his images on Monday.
"I have been urged by friends ti post something about my perfect health and weight loss," Val Kilmer posted a statement on Facebook. "Can't win this crzay town. Too heavy for too many years and now gossip says, too thin!"
"But I'm preparing as most of you know, for my dream role, Mark Twain in a film I've written and will direct about his obsession with Mary Baker Eddy," Kilmer added. "Mark Twain was a thin man, and finally after usual amount of effort, I'm thin again too. Perfect health."
While Val Kilmer's weight-loss had been gradual, it was still a subject of intense scrutiny online. But the actor also received some positive support from his social media fans and expressed their desires of wanting the actor to go back in the spotlight. And good news to all his avid fans, Kilmer has one new movie scheduled for release in April.
