Four Dead In Texas Home - Police investigators in North Texas were left confused after responding to a distress call regarding a botched suicide attempt and discovering the bodies of 4 people inside a residential building on Sunday.
Crowley Police Chief Luis Soler told the press that police officers had responded to a distress call at about 4:20 p.m. when they made the grim discovery at a home on Kennedy Drive. The bodies found included an adult male and two adult females as well as a teenage girl.
Reports indicate that a 9-year-old survivor was also found on the property. He was unharmed. It is unclear how the unidentified 9-year-old is related to the deceased victims, who Sober said appeared to be a family unit.
Despite "obvious signs of trauma" on the bodies of the deceased, Sober said it is impossible to determine what may have led to their deaths. The police are reportedly talking to the 9-year-old survivor, who inadvertently alerted them about trouble in the home after he reportedly called a relative and revealed that a man had tried to commit suicide in the house and was injured. The relative then called the police.
Sober stressed that this is an isolated incident and that there were no signs of forced entry into the home. Nonetheless he desisted from calling it a murder-suicide.
"This is the type of call any police officer, fireman, or paramedic dreads to get especially during the holiday season," Sober said, adding that it will have a huge impact on the community.
Crowley, which is just a few miles from Fort Worth, is estimated to have a population of between 12,000 to 14,000 people.
Sober said an investigation has been opened into the incident. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner is expected to release the identities of the deceased after getting in contact with their next of kin.
