Elon Musk Tatulah Riley - Renowned engineer and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has filed for a divorce from his wife Tatulah Riley on Thursday, Jan 1, after about 18 months of marriage.
The 43-year-old Billionaire is reported to have been living separately from his 29-year-old British wife for the past five months. Riley has reportedly been busy working on the romantic comedy movie Scottish Mussel. It is immediately unclear if the fact that they are living apart contributed to their divorce.
This is the second time that Musk is divorcing Riley. The couple separated briefly in 2012 after their marriage about two years earlier. Just as in this instance, they failed to provide any reason for their divorce.
Musk quelled rumors that a bitter spat led to their divorce after he tweeted a loving message soon after their divorce saying, "It was an amazing four years. I will love you forever." But he has not made any comments after their latest split.
Instead, Musk and Riley have released a statement saying that they have chosen to divorce amicably and will remain friends. According to their prenuptial agreement, reports indicate that Riley will be getting up to $16 million from Musk as part of a settlement for their divorce. During their initial separation, she reportedly got about $4.2 million.
Musk and Riley have had no children in their marriage. But the SpaceX Billionaire has had 6 sons from his earlier marriage to Canadian writer and actress Justine Musk (Jennifer J. Wilson).
Musk, who has received many awards and recognitions for his innovative work, is also the cofounder of PayPal and Tesla Motors.Recently, he revealed that Tesla is developing a charger for its electric cars that automatically coils from the wall and attaches itself to the charging port on the car.
Meanwhile, Riley's Scottish Mussel is expected to be released sometime this year. But the producers of the movie have not hinted at any release date yet.
