Ricky Martin Found Dead - The 43-year-old La Vida Loca singer has started off the New Year on the fore front of the headlines after a YouTube video purporting to show his death in a car accident on Interstate 5 was uploaded over the weekend.
According to the video, which has since been proven to be fake, Martin died on Jan 1st after he was involved in a car accident while driving his new convertible BMW. An official is quoted saying that the driver of the BMW, who was coming down a hill, was attempting to avoid hitting a slow moving vehicle when he lost control and crashed into a "retaining wall."
Since the video surfaced online, many fans have been asking is Ricky Martin really dead?
Well, they didn't have to wait long to get an answer to that as the singer posted some new photos on his Instagram account. Martin, who seems to be playing along with the death hoax, posted a photo of a picturesque beach with the words "Hell from #Heaven."
This was soon followed by another photo of him looking into the sunset with the words "#Sunset in #heaven."
While these updates are enough to quell the 'Ricky Martin dead' stories, it is well that we must also point out some inconsistencies in the fake YouTube video of Ricky Martin's death.
First, the unidentified officer, who is shown speaking in the Ricky Martin dead video, claims to be representing the Marin County police. But in the press release under the video, it is said that the accident occurred on Highway 5 in Los Angeles. Marin County is in San Francisco Bay Area.
Now, if you listen closely, at 0:14, the officer says someone called "Oman Abdul" not Ricky Martin had been found unconscious or dead. Also, it is possible to detect a change in the speaker when the video purported to represent the moment when Ricky Martin dies comes on the screen.
Since it is clear that the person who uploaded the video of Ricky Martin's death is simply looking to get some hits on YouTube, fans can breathe easy and look forward to the release of Ricky Martin's A Quien quiere Eschuchar in February.
