Blenkinsopp Castle For Sale - A 14th century castle in Northumberland, England has been put on sale as a residential property for much less than the price of an average semi-detached home in the country.

The Blenkinsopp castle for sale, which is priced at just £325,000 ($493,000), is located near the famous Hadrian Wall. Reports indicate that the turreted castle has four bedrooms, two living rooms, a tower, as well as several historically priceless ruins.

"The history of the place along makes it worth the very ordinary price as well as the fact that it's a beautiful and practical family home," says estate agent Alisa Mather from Andrew Coulson.

Although the classic stone masonry work on the exterior of the property retains the feel of its ancient splendor, the interior of the property has been rebuilt to look like any modern home.

Historical records show that the Blenkinsopp castle for sale was built in 1339. The property has come though the hands of many members of the Blenkinsopp family - including Bryan de Blenkinsopp (15th century), whose French wife's ghost is said to roam the halls of the property.

There is a legend that she refused to tell him the secret location of a box of gold she owned, forcing him to leave her in the Blenkinsopp castle. Consumed by grief over her actions which led to her separation from Blenkinsopp, 'The White Lady' as she is known, continues to roam the property.

Over the years, there have been several renovations carried out on the Blenkinsopp castle. A mansion was built on the site in the 19th century by one of the Blenkinsopps. Reports indicate that the property was later sold off to a buyer, who turned it into a hotel. But the hotel burnt down in the fifties. This led to the demolition of large parts of the Blenkinsopp castle over safety concerns.

The Blenkinsopp castle has since undergone major restoration works. It is currently listed as a Grade II property and agents say they expect a "flurry of viewings" for the property.

What we can't wrap our heads around is why the Blenkinsopp castle for sale is being priced so cheap? Is there really a ghost lounging there?
