Mick Jagger Scholarship - In honor of the late L'Wren Scott, The Rolling Stones front man has established a scholarship at the Central Saint Martins arts and designs college in London, England.
Reports indicate that the scholarship program, which will last until 2017, will be awarded to students to study MA fashion program at the prestigious school.
The course director at Central Saint Martins Fabio Piras has said he is 'grateful' or the scholarship. "Our students sacrifice so much to take up this course and work extremely hard while they are here," he said.
Mick Jagger has reportedly been suffering from acute traumatic stress disorder since the death of his longtime girlfriend in March last year. The Rolling Stones had to postpone some international tour appearances due to his condition.
The announcement of the L'Wren Scott fashion scholarship comes as the Rolling Stones are embroiled in a legal battle with their insurers for about $12 million due to the unforeseen cancellation of their tour last year due to the famous designer's death. Reports indicate that medical experts advised Jagger to take a month off as he was suffering from acute traumatic stress disorder due to her death.
L'Wren Scott's death was mourned by many big names in the fashion industry and the entertainment world. It is unclear why the 49-year-old designer, who has been described as a 'genius' took her own life.
There were rumors that Scott was dealing with depression for a long time before she died. Her company LS Fashion Ltd had reportedly also been in debt.
L'Wren Scott left her entire estate, which is valued at about $9 million, to Mick Jagger. Scott and Jagger had been together for more than a decade before her death. Reports indicate that while the 6ft model and designer was ready to tie the knot, Jagger - a renowned Bohemian - shunned the prospect of walking down the aisle.
It is unclear how much the Mick Jagger scholarship for L'Wren Scott is worth.
