Aussie teen sensation Nick Kyrgios admitted he was quite disappointed not to play against Roger Federer, the man he called the Greatest Player of All Time, after the Swiss Master was stunned by Italian Andrea Seppi in the third round.

The 19-year old Kyrgios keeps his rapid ascent to the top of men's tennis following his sensational 5-7, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 8-6 comeback win against Seppi in their epic fourth-round clash.

Saturday's result wasn't just an ordinary victory for Kyrgios, who showed a lot of character after climbing from a two-set deficit and then saving a match point to reach his second Grand Slam quarterfinal of his young career.

Despite pulling off a statement win against tough competition (Seppi is former top-20 player), Kyrgios was still upset he didn't get a chance to play against Federer, who was unfortunately booted out by the same Italian foe in another dandy four-setter match the previous round.

"There was a little part of me [hoping to play Federer]," Kyrgios said in the press-conference via the Sydney Morning Herald. "I was actually thinking about it last night. I had a tough match last night. It's hard not to think about playing possibly the greatest of all time. Everyone wants to play Roger.

"I can only dream about what Seppi is feeling right now, to beat him in four sets on Rod Laver. That's massive for him. But I get to play another great guy that's been on tour for a long, long time."

Kyrgios never faced Federer since turning pro in 2013. His upset win against Rafael Nadal at the Wimbledon Open last year remains the biggest moment of his career, however he is gazing on a golden opportunity of adding another feather to his cap with a win against former Grand Slam finalist and perenial top-10 netter Tomas Berdych in the quarters.
