Ghost Particle - Are we alone? There has been a never-ending claim that extraterrestrial beings exist. And now, the latest study discovered by a group of scientists known as the "ghost particle" claimed that the existence of an alien life is indeed a possibility.
The "ghost particle" discovery was helmed by Professor Milton Wainwright and a group of researchers from the University of Sheffield and the University of Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology. International Business Times revealed Prof. Wainwright works at the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Department of the University of Sheffield.
For generations, scientists and researchers have been into an endless debate about the likelihood of the presence of extraterrestrial beings. And recently, researchers claimed that an image obtained by scientists was apparently an evidence that earthly beings are never alone and aliens are real.
The groundbreaking finding was first reported by The Daily Express last week. Based on the report, a team of researchers discovered a "spectral-like 'ghost particle' in debris gathered from outer space." Allegedly, the "ghost particle" was obtained from "dust and particle" matter found in the stratosphere, an atmospheric layer in between the troposphere and the mesosphere of the earth.
"We can speculate that in its space environment this 'ghost particle' is a living balloon which an alien microscopic organism might inflate with lighter than air gasses allowing it to float in the air or the seas of an unknown space environment," Wainwright stated as quoted by Techie News.
The scientists stressed that the "ghost particle" was biological in nature and something that has never been discovered before. The newfound matter was termed as such because of its microscopically wisplike appearance.
Prof. Wainwright explained, the particle came in "width of human hair" with a resemblance to "a chiffon scarf with a ghostly appearance." Though the image showed the subject to be more like a deflated balloon, he said it was probably inflated. Prior to the latest "ghost particle" discovery, Wainwright and his team made another bewildering discovery of "dragon particle," which was published in the Journal of Cosmology.
Meanwhile, NASA's Ames Research Centre astrobiologist Chris McKay is looking for more proof about the latest finding of Prof. Wainwright, Tech Times reported. Â
"There is probably truth to the report that they find curious stuff in the atmosphere," McKay explained in an email to Space.com. "The jump to the conclusion that it is alien life is a big jump and would require quite extraordinary proof."
It is still unclear whether the "ghost particle" discovery could be utilized by other researchers and subsequently open possibilities for the study of related topics, for instance origin of life on Earth. But do aliens exist?
