A tweet by veteran point guard Ish Smith of the Oklahoma City Thunder caught the attention of several NBA followers on Wednesday, prompting speculations among Los Angeles Lakers fans about a certain blockbuster trade waiting to be announced.

For the past two months, the Lakers front-office have been aggressive in engaging into several trade talks in hope of landing an All-Star caliber talent or perhaps a future cornerstone of the franchise. The Lakers found no luck so far, primarily due to lack of enticing assets on their roster (except Kobe Bryant).

But there's still hope for the struggling Lakers, as NBA insiders - including Sean Deveney of Sporting News - have high belief the Lakers remain capable of pulling off a big move on the trading front before the February 19 deadline.

On Wednesday, Lakers fans' prayers might have been answered after Smith posted a tweet apparently indicating he just got traded to the Lakers.

Smith, who is boasting a career average of 2.7 points and 1.9 assist in 10 minutes per game, is obviously not the one Lakers fans are getting excited about. However, his recent tweet - which he deleted right away - has somehow given them some sort of hope that the Lakers management are onto something really big before the trade window expires.

"The tweet has since been deleted, but it should raise more than a few eyebrows. It'd almost be a certainty that Smith would be part of a package deal. Currently, Thunder's guard Reggie Jackson has been whispered as part of trade rumors. The Lakers have a big man that could help the Thunder instantly in Jordan Hill," according to Lakers beat writer Jacob Rude of Fan Sided.

With his rookie contract expiring at the end of the season, Reggie Jackson has been thrown on and off the trading mill this season. In fact, the Denver Nuggets were in position to acquire the athletic point guard two weeks ago, before the Thunder backtracked from the deal.

Nevertheless, many league insiders are expecting Jackson to wear a different jersey past the trade deadline, and the Lakers are viewed as one of about half a dozen teams eager to strike a deal for him.

Will Jackson be included in a trade package to the Lakers? It's something to be seen, but Smith has folds of purple-and-gold fans already on a lookout for a 'major announcement' from the team's office over the next few days.
